BLUF is a fraternity for men who have an interested in leather uniforms. Founded in 1997, there are members around the world organizing meet ups.
In Minneapolis, most meet ups are monthly at the Eagle Minneapolis bar. Our gatherings are an opportunity to wear our "leather formals" and find like-minded folks. Membership to BLUF and its main website is completely free and open to those who comply with the dresscode, and agree to the rules.
To become a member of BLUF you'll need to upload some photos of you in gear, to show that you understand the dresscode, plus an additional photo to verify your identity. Complete details about BLUF and membership are available at the BLUF website.
As expressions of leather formals expand, when we say uniform, we mean something that looks formal, and smart, but it doesn't have to be an authentic uniform. It can be something made up - as long as it looks like it could be a uniform or formal leather outfit.
To participate in the BLUF online community you need to be a member of the BLUF website (thus the club). To attend our gatherings in Minneapolis, no; you do not need to be a member nor identify as gay male. We keep our Minneapolis socials open to all, no dresscode enforced. We want our local socials to be an opportunity to learn about the leather community in all its expressions.
Our socials vary seasonally, but we try to gather monthly at the Eagle Minneapolis bar an hour before their Gear Night. Occasionally, we partner with other Minnesota leather clubs and organizations for gatherings and events.
Although BLUF doesn't have local chapters as such - membership of BLUF is handled centrally - each BLUF Local group has one or more people planning and organizing events, and able to answer some of your questions about the club.
In the US, there are known BLUF Locals in Boston, Chicago, DC, Detroit, Los Angeles, Minneapolis, New York, Palm Springs, San Francisco.
